Federica Dubbini

Foto Federica Dubbini Artista

Federica Dubbini was born on the Ligurian coast and has lived and worked in the Canton Ticino for years, after studying in Milan. She works as a cultural mediator at the Lac-Lugano Arte e Cultura, the Villa dei Cedri Museum in Bellinzona, and the Casa Rusca Museum in Locarno.

Her art touches, in various ways and with different harmonies, theater, music, dance, photography, and painting, a journey of images and the discovery of states of mind. She never renounces transformation, which on her canvases becomes symbol and color, and in life leaves traces and tears that are eventually healed. In the transition between "Metamorfosi" and "Sguardi," her first experiments, her journey opens up in "Orizzonti" of colors and places transformed, observed, and imagined. In her works, Federica tries not to lose the path of imagination; sometimes technique is needed, sometimes it's enough to follow one color more decisive than another.

Often, it's necessary to lose yourself in the chaos to find harmony.

The underlying theme of her work is therefore the imagined, the fantastic, the marvelous, but in the development of her thought, it also encompasses the unconscious, the world of feeling, new directions in the world and in ourselves, which can only be grasped through subtle senses, by closing one's eyes and opening oneself to silence. And so meditation, distant, archaic languages, and vibrations slowly enter her works, translating an initial gesture, made up of layers and chapters of interconnected stories, into the subtraction and recovery of other chapters, ancient and never told but only intuited.

From here, it's a short step to children's illustrations. The artist has collaborated with numerous publishing houses: creations where pure fantasy reigns supreme, which recount things seen through the eyes of the very young, which invent worlds or give the most beautiful shapes and colors to the worlds dreamed of by children.
